SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPY

A sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue specifically designed to help people who are constantly physically active. This type of massage manipulates the musculoskeletal system – ligaments and muscles for enhanced efficiency.

What happens at my appointment?

During your initial consultation we begin with discussing your medical history, any current injuries, pain points and your current lifestyle.

A thorough assessment will then be carried out to check for muscle imbalances, tightness, and restricted movement. Observation of your posture, range of motion and any areas of discomfort will be noted.

A personalised treatment plan well then be prescribed and the massage will take place using different techniques including Effleurage, Petrissage, Friction, Tapotment, Joint Mobilisation, Compression and Assisted Stretching.

After your appointment, a home care plan may be given and advice on stretching, exercises or other practices to help maintain muscle flexibility and reduce the risk of future injury.
